This 6-week Yin Yoga course offers an immersive experience into the five elements by blending the wisdom of Chinese Medicine with the gentle, meditative practice of Yin Yoga.
Each week, we’ll explore a different element through our practice—Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water—focusing on the Meridians and Organs they govern, as well as dedicated areas of the body.
These classes are designed to foster balance, relaxation, and reconnection between your body and mind.
Why you will LOVE Yin Yoga
Yin Yoga is a slow paced and mindful practice where we hold asanas for a longer period of time. Unlike more dynamic yoga styles that focus on the muscular or "yang" tissues, Yin Yoga targets the deeper "yin" tissues of the body—ligaments, joints, fascia, and even bones— promoting them health, vitality and flexibility. Whereas Yang yoga brings movement to start the flow of energy, Yin Yoga brings stillness to give more space to the flow of energy or ‘Chi’. Hence Yin yoga is a great complement to other yang forms of yoga or activities.
Mindfulness and stillness are key components of Yin practice, too. During the practice we aim to be fully present and reconnect mind and body together through breath and awareness. There is a saying in Yin Yoga ‘we do not use the body to enter the pose but the pose to enter the body’.
By integrating the Five Elements of Chinese Medicine —Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water—Yin Yoga brings a holistic balance to the body and mind, too. Each element corresponds to a season, emotion, and organ system. Focusing on specific meridians and elements allows us to address various physical, emotional, and energetic needs, creating harmony within and fostering a deeper connection to the natural cycles of life.
